Day #5 of Pfatt Fest was spent in San Francisco! I had to upload the two most famous songs to play while you are viewing these amazing pics of this gorgeous city! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day either! No fog at all, gorgeous clear blue skies and the wonderful company of my Pfatt sisters! Kitty met up with us at the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station in Lafayette to start our journey into San Fran. We were so glad that she got to join us on one of the days we were there!
As soon as we came up from the BART station we walked right into the city! Tall skyscrapers were all around us and the famous cable cars were right there, but the line was really long so we started walking to our first stop..........

Union Square..........
On each corner of Union Square were these gorgeous huge puffed hearts. This one featured the Golden Gate Bridge....
Our first stop was
Britex. A 4 story old building that is now home to this famous fabric shop. They have everything under the sun for you semastresses out there! The girls had thought they had died and gone to heaven. The first floor was all material........
Floor to ceiling shelves stocked full of every kind of trim that you could want all sorted by color. So pretty!!!!!!
Half this floor was nothing but buttons! If you have a button fetish.......then this was the floor for you! Just ask Deb! She went nuts over the metal skeleton and skull buttons! I still say you should have got the over $45 pair of scissors with the leapord print handles! (Mother's Day is coming up, you know!) =D

Next we walked to find a spot to hop on a cable car to hitch a ride to Fisherman's Wharf. We all couldn't fit on the same one since most were full so we had to split into two groups. Everyone wants to ride San Francisco's moving landmarks. And they are an exciting trip...up and down some of the city's steepest hills at a steady 9.5 mph.......
The cable car works by cable traction involving the use of “endless” wire rope that is kept in motion throughout the route from a central power plant. This wire rope, or cable, runs in a groove below the surface of the street at a constant speed of 9 miles per hour. The cable is kept in motion by winding wheels ten feet in diameter, driven by an electric power plant located in the Cable Car Barn at Washington and Mason Streets. Each car is equipped with a vice-live grip. The car moves forward when the operator, or gripman, pulls on the lever that grips the moving cable. When the gripman wants to stop the car, he or she simply disengages the grip from the cable. We could smell the heat when he put those brakes on too..........
Hanging on for dear life and trying to shoot pics was rather tricky plus making sure my purse didn't fall off! LOL The views that we had while riding the cable cars where just breathtaking! Looking back towards the San Francisco Bay Bridge.......

Maritime National Historical Park. A group of school kids were getting ready to take a school field trip on. They eat, sleep and man the ship for a true one of a kind learning experience!
This
Barbary Coast Trail bronze plaque was embedded in the sidewalk down at Fisherman's Wharf. A series of bronze medallions and arrows embedded in the sidewalk connect the Barbary Coast Trail’s historic sites. Along a 3.8-mile path (mostly flat or gently sloping), the trail weaves its way through Downtown, Union Square, Chinatown, Portsmouth Square, Jackson Square Historic District, Old Barbary Coast, Beat San Francisco, North Beach, Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower, Fishermans Wharf, San Francisco Martime Historical National Park, Ghirardelli Square and Nob Hill....

Our favorite Fisherman’s Wharf performers are, unquestionably, the sea lions that abandoned Seal Rocks and began to frequent Pier 39 following the 1989 earthquake. Boisterous and noisy, they spend as many as 10 months of the year (September through June) sunning themselves on the docks or playing in the waters nearby, and then head south to the Channel Islands off the Coast of Santa Barbara in July and August to breed.........
