A Little Preview...................

.......of things to come. The EHAG (Eclectic Halloween Artist Group) eBay group is having a winter challenge on January 26th. The theme for this challenge is "The Weather Outside is Frightful". What could be more perfect..........no? lol The weather here in Ohio has been pretty frightful this past weekend with a mix of snow, sleet, winds and cold........brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. (Is spring here yet??????????) =o) Below is the piece that I just finished. This candlestick was in our shoppe, brought in by one of our consignment artists, and I had one of those light bulb moments when I saw it! A head could go on top of those knobs on the one side and that could be her arm holding the candle! =o) I hand crocheted her little Halloween scarf and her little hat out of fun fur yarn. Has anyone ever tried to actually crochet with this stuff? You cannot see your stitches at all! It's definitely not for amateur crocheters like me! LOL You just have to try to feel for your stitches amongst all those little furry things......heck, I should have taken my magnifying eyeglasses off to do it, since I couldn't see anything anyhow! hahaha!

So I sat down one night last week and got out the package of paper clay that my good friend JoycEE had her hubby pick up for us. He works in Cuyahoga Falls and there's a Michael's close by, so he's the designated paper clay picker upper............lol (Thanks Murph!) =D

You see, my first experience with paper clay was at the 1st PFATT Fest held in Berlin, OH at the Coblentz Country Cabins. It was taught by my dear friend Christy Meyers of Ccswhimsies. What wonderful memories I still have of that day! All of us sculpted snowman heads that day and they were all taken back home to be finished and listed on eBay. I still to this day wish that I had kept that first snowman............he was sooo cute!

Below is a pic of some of the unfinished heads that we sat in front of the firplace to dry.........

Well, I have since then only sculpted twice. Both were snowmen..........I just can't get past that little carrot nose! My second paper clay sculpt is pictured up above in my banner and below...........

I will make sure that I post the link when the EHAG challenge starts so you all can see the frightfully creative items that all the EHAG artists come up with this month!

Great work LOrilicious!! I have a pile of paperclay stuff unfinished. I guess it just isnt my thing! Pam

vintagepaletteart said...

You have to get a lesson from the queen of paper clay Pam. My first one that I did alongside Crusty was my most detailed one yet. I was too scared to pick the paper clay up after that. I think it took me like 2 years before I attempted another one.

Thanks Sweet B! This is the longest I have ever had to wait to list a challenge piece....LOL I usually don't finish until the day of or the day before. That yarn is something else! I have a new admiration for the people that work with that kind now! ;o)
